Rust-en-vrede Gallery and Clay Museum

Rust-en-Vrede Gallery and Clay Museum is a cultural landmark in the Western Cape, housed in a beautifully preserved 1850s heritage building in Durbanville. Since 1984, the gallery has been a cornerstone of South African art, featuring three dynamic exhibition spaces. It serves as the proud home to the National Portrait Award and the South African Clay Awards.

The gallery offers a diverse range of art exhibitions and hosts the Cube + Clay Museum, which features a unique installation unit of 90 small cube-shaped spaces. Visitors can explore various mediums including oil paintings, sculptures, lithographs, linocuts, silkscreens, and clay works. The shop also provides archival prints and art prints for collectors.

Engage with the local arts community through various art classes and workshops. Independent tutors offer sessions in drawing, painting, etching, and mosaic. There are also dedicated kids art classes for primary school students. These classes are designed to encourage interaction between students, tutors, and artists within a vibrant atmosphere.
