Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that Bellville South police registered a murder case. According to Van Wyk, “Bellville South police registered a murder case for investigation following an incident at a secondary school in Bellville South involving two learners.” No arrests had been made at the time of publication.

The Bellville South Community Policing Forum (CPF) expressed sadness over the learner’s death and called on members of the public not to speculate while the investigation is under way. The CPF strongly condemned violence in schools and conveyed its condolences to the family, friends and school,” they said.
