The move marks the conclusion of Woolworths’ original 15-year-old rewards programme, launched in 2010. It has been replaced by the MyDifference loyalty programme, which launched in June 2025.
Customers will now access instant rewards and vouchers through the Woolies App, a physical and virtual rewards card system. Those using only a physical card without linking it to the app will receive savings on selected items in-store or online; they won’t gain access to personalised app-only rewards.
The MyDifference programme operates based on annual spend thresholds: Loyal (R0 – R12,000), Ambassador (R12,000 – R35,999) and VIP ( >R36,000). Rewards are earned by swiping or scanning the linked card during purchases.
Benefits vary by reward level; including instant savings, access to promotions, earning vouchers (at least 4 per year for Loyal & Ambassador, 24 per year for VIP), and participation in Play & Win games. Customers can also donate to their chosen cause with each purchase.
